5 Easy Ways to Celebrate Construction Week

There are 76 days until Construction Week!  At MBI, it has already become somewhat like a Christmas countdown in our office.  Last year was the first time that we celebrated Construction Week and we have been looking forward to the next one ever since!

We are working to spread the word across the nation about Construction Week and the opportunities available in the construction industry.  Construction Week is a time to celebrate our built environment and showcase those who create it, increase public dialogue about the shortage of construction workers and bring construction to life for students, educators and parents in an industry-wide collaborative effort.  We need the industry to come together in order to make a difference and spread the word about Construction Week.  Here are 5 easy things you can do:

  1. Hang a copy of the Construction Week poster in gathering areas.

We printed and distributed 4,000 posters to individuals and companies nationwide.  There is an easy-to-print 8 ½ X 11 copy of the poster that can download here.  Download and print copies of this and post in your breakroom, meeting rooms, job site trailers and anywhere else you think people will notice it.

  1. Post on social media.
We have been posting regularly on our social accounts about Construction Week. Simply share one of our posts with your followers to spread the word.
  • Facebook – Try sharing the post that we have pinned to the top.
  • Twitter – Try sharing the post that we have pinned to the top.
  • LinkedIn – Our post from July 17th would be a good one to share.
    1. Add Construction Week to your email signature.
Think about the amount of emails you send on a daily basis. Now multiply that by the number of days left until Construction Week (a countdown can be found on our Facebook page) and you have a great way of spreading the word about Construction Week!   We have even created a variety of images that you can download and add to your email signature.  All you have to do is go to http://www.mbionline.com/content/construction-week-resources-planning-guides-construction-companies-individuals and click on the ICON that says Logos/Artwork/Marketing Materials.  Once you have the files downloaded to your computer, simply choose which email signature image you want to use, add it to your email signature and link it to a description of Construction Week.  You can use our main Construction Week page to link it to, or you can link it to a page your company has created, if applicable.  Here is the link to our page – http://www.mbionline.com/construction-week.
  1. Request that Construction Week be added to your internal company calendar (October 2 – 6, 2017).

If you are able to attach information to the post/entry in the calendar, simply copy and paste the following:

As the demand for construction continues to rise, so does the need for an educated, talented, and qualified labor force. This labor shortage is not going to correct itself. As a response, contractors across the nation are declaring the first week in October of each year as “Construction Week.”

And while there are many materials to help promote this initiative, its success will ultimately take the support of proud and passionate individuals.  As a member of the construction industry, you are uniquely positioned as the best example of why construction is such a great industry to have a career in. Be a part of the movement to proudly promote construction as a preferred career choice!

      1. Purchase a Construction Week promotional item.

Visit the Construction Week online store to view the variety of items available for purchase with the Construction Week logo.  Buy a Construction Week t-shirt ($6.50) and wear it proudly, or ask your company if you can buy a Construction Week banner to hang on your job site (only $35 for a 10’ X 3” banner with grommets).  The Construction Week online store is open until August 18thShipping charges will be applied.

These are just a few things that you can do to help promote the construction industry and Construction Week.  Visit the Construction Week resources center for many more ideas and downloads to help you plan for a successful Construction Week celebration!
