MBI-PAC Update

The 2019 legislative session has concluded, and now MBI members are asking me:  “how did we do?”  For starters, we continue to see a Legislature that is truly seeking a way to constantly improve the business climate in Iowa.  It’s refreshing to see and makes our jobs as policy makers an enjoyable one.  While no session is perfect, we certainly had some great wins this year that will benefit the commercial construction industry for years to come.  Governor Reynolds now has 30 days to sign or veto all the legislation passed in the last 3 days.  When that has concluded, we will have more information for the membership on specifics of our policy priorities and where they ended up.

Now, I seem to be getting this question more and more:  “how can I get more involved in MBI’s public policy program?”

Prior to session starting, I wrote this blog about the many ways to get involved, and I’d be happy to speak with any of you individually if you’d like.  However, I wanted to focus this blog on one piece of our public policy strategy that can’t go unnoticed.  And that is, the strength of our MBI-PAC.  Like it or not, PACs play a critical role in our influence on creating an environment in which business and construction can thrive.

So here’s your chance MBI leaders!  Join the ‘250 Club’ today and be recognized for your leadership in supporting the MBI-PAC.  Show your commitment to supporting MBI’s public policy program and continue to be a voice for the industry at the Capitol.  Everyone who joins the ‘250 Club’ will be recognized through different publications and at the Winter Conference in February among your peers.  While we are on the subject, check out who was in the ‘250 Club’ last year here.

Supporting the MBI-PAC is the easiest, and by far most effective.  But more specifically, you should consider joining the ‘250 Club’ by attending our first MBI-PAC event of the season, PAC at the Track.  It’s right around the corner on Thursday, June 6 at Prairie Meadows.

Have you gotten your tickets yet?  It’s ok if you haven’t.  Just remember to send me an email ASAP and reserve your spot.

About PAC at the Track:

Join your MBI colleagues from around the state for a fun night of spectacular horse racing at Prairie Meadows’ one-mile track.  Not sure you want to gamble?  No problem.  We’ll also have a friendly horse racing competition for prizes for everyone to enjoy that won’t cost a dime.  Be sure to bring a guest as well!  Your $250 contribution to the MBI-PAC will secure your name in the ‘250 Club’ and will get you two tickets to the event.  For contributors, we’ll have one Carhartt Cooler to take home with you as a gift thanking your for your support.  And for all attendees, we’ll have complimentary hors d’oeuvres and an open bar from 5:00-9:00PM.

Thanks for your ongoing support of the MBI-PAC!
